No-Bake cheese cake in an Edible cup

Today I’ve decided to make a lovely cheesecake. Since I’m still trying to stick to my new years resolutions I tried to make the dessert small and light. I also looked at something that might look cute for valentines day, since I love pink so much.

IMG_6952.jpg

I started off by making cute little chocolate cups to hold the cheesecake in. You can make these with chocolate and balloons. I recommend using 5 balloons for 2 serving because some of the cups will break when you remove the balloons so rather save than sorry.

INGREDIENTS ( 2 servings)

  • 4-5 balloons
  • 80 gram melting chocolate
  • 4 Tablespoons cream cheese
  • 4 Tablespoons whipped cream plus more for the garnish
  • 2 Tablespoons icing sugar
  • 1-2 drops red food coloring.
  • 8 Strawberries.
  • 2 Tablespoons Nutella

To make the cups

Melt the chocolate in a small bowl. Blow up the balloons to about the size of a tennis ball and dip the ends into the chocolate until about half of the balloons are covered. Place in the refrigerator until hard. Stick a needle in the balloons to blow them off and lightly pull them from the chocolate cups.

Scoop a tablespoon of Nutella in each cup.Strawberries into slices and layer on top of the Nutella

Mix the cream cheese, whipped cream, icing sugar and food colouring in a blender. Scoop equal parts of the mixture into the two cups on top of the sliced strawberries.

Squirt some whipped cream on top of the mixture and add strawberries on top. You could also add other fruits that you like. Chill for 30 minutes and serve.

Brick Cafe – Review

Last week we went to Suncheon, a city right at the bottom of Korea. We came across a cute little coffee shop called Brick Cafe. The main them of the Cafe is basically Lego but they also have a wide variety of action figures , comic books and other collectables. It was a lovely little cafe. Most of the coffee tables are Korean style which means that you sit on the floor with lovely little cushions around you. You can even read some of the comics if you stay for a while

I would love to visit this little cafe again. It had a relaxed atmosphere and it was nice and warm especially with the rays of sunlight breaking through the windows.

Blogger Recognition Award

Hi everyone I was so surprised to see that my dear blogging friend Bern, from Berns Bakes nominated me for the Blogger Recognition Award.I honestly never thought I would be nominated. You see I’m kind of really shy and don’t always like to put myself out there, and I know I don’t network  nearly as much as I should as a blogger. Sometimes I have really ‘great’ comments to give but after I typed it out I don’t always post it, back to the point. Thank you once again Bern you really made my day when I logged on today and saw that I have been nominated!!!!!:)

You should definitely check out her blog, she makes awesome recipes and she has great food ideas. I’ve tried quite a few of her recipes and I’ve never been disappointing. This is the carrot cake I made from her website.

You can find her website at https://bernbakes.wordpress.com/

Rules:

1. Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog.

2. Write a post to show your award.

3. Give a brief story of how your blog started.

4. Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers.

5. Select 15 other bloggers you want to give this award to.

6. Comment on each blog and let them know you have nominated them & provide the link to the post you created.

I first started my blog 8 months ago. I’ve been wanting to start a blog for quite some time now. My first idea was to tell people more about my town Seosan but it grew into so much more. Sometimes I write about travel and other times I write about food. It has really grown into an extension of my self and I love every moment of it, even if I spend the whole day baking and making to have posts for the following week. Thank you to all of you who have supported my blog over the past 8 months.

If I could give 2 pieces of advice the first would be to be true to yourself. People notice it when you’re only blogging to make a quick buck by listing products all the time. Write good quality posts. Write about your life, or something you feel passionate about. Like minded readers will follow you. In addition quality is much better than quantity but also be consistent. If you decide to post 3 times a week, then post 3 times. Your readers will expect that kind of consistency and will wonder what happened to you if you don’t post often, or they might just loose interest.

The second piece of advice would be to invest in a good camera. It doesn’t have to be expensive. Good pictures does so much for your blog. A lot of the time people don’t have time to read all the blog posts in their reader, so they might just have a quick peek at all of them or only look at the interesting ones. Therefore if you have lots of pictures people will like to look at them even if they don’t have time to read your whole post, they might even save it for later to see what you were writing about.

Here are my nominees.

Passengers-Review

Starring Chris Pratt (Jim Preston) and Jennifer Lawrence (Aurora Lane).  Don’t read if you haven’t seen the movie already

Passengers is a story about a man who wakes up from his hibernation pod after his ship is damaged by meteor fragments. He wakes up only 30 years into his 120 year journey towards a new planet Homestead II. He wakes up to find that he is the only person on the whole ship who is awake accept for a android called Arthur, played by Micheal Sheen. In his mission to find out what happened to him and why he woke up he finds that all the fancy programmes on the spaceship are of no help and only have limited prerecorded information. Most of the information he found that could possibly help him was only theoretical.

In addition the social class system was in place even though he was the only passenger awake, since he didn’t have a gold class ticket he was limited to only black coffee and basic breakfasts like cereal and oats. After using all the possible facilities on the ship, some of them he had broken into, he found that he felt pretty alone, a situation that reminded me a lot of Tom Hanks movie, Cast Away.

One night while trying out the outer-space facility he decides to take his own life because of the loneliness but he doesn’t go through with it. Instead he accidentally notices a woman in the hibernation chamber. He then starts to read her files and tries to get to know her. After much inner struggles with himself he decides that he wants to wake her up too, to reduce his own loneliness but he knows that if he wakes her up he will doom her to loneliness too…

I really enjoyed the movie. I think it is because somehow we can relate to it because we sometimes also feel alone and feel that we can’t do anything to change our circumstances. In the movie, Arthur suggests to Jim that instead of wishing he was somewhere else he should make the most of where he is and this really hit home for me. I enjoyed the movie much more than I expected.

Some things in the movie also showed that some times you think you have bad luck but it could rather be a matter of fate, for example the fact that Jim woke up Aurora. Although it might have been the wrong choice to condemn someone else to a lifetime of loneliness, this act helped them save 5000 other passengers on the ship who could have died if they didn’t wake up to save the ship.

I’ll give it a 7/10

What did you think of it?

Home Decor ideas

If you don’t know this by  now my bedrooms theme is basically ‘Union Jack’ I really like the colours  and my husband also thinks that the bedroom is not too girly this way so we’re trying to add some more colour to the bedroom and we’re always looking for some cute British inspired home decor ideas.

This is what I’ve found this week. I’ve recently painted my bedroom dresser white, but we really need an extra one since we have a lot of clothes but not a lot of closet space.

  1. Pillow spotted on atticmag
  2. Dresser from livingroompaintideas.net
  3. Union Jack Phone from cuckooland.com
  4. Mirror from forwooddesign.com

My next project is to change our bedroom mirror. It was a mirror that was left here by the previous teachers and its quite old so we will try and make it look vibrant and loved again 😀
