Getting our Korean Drivers Licenses

We’ve been in Korea for a little over 2 years, and we’re not sure how long we’ll still be here. Since we’ve bought our motorcycles  we decided that we should probably make the effort to get our Korean Drivers licenses. Getting the normal license was pretty easy. All we had to do was go to our embassy with our drivers licenses from our country of origin. The Embassy made a copy and gave it a stamp to authenticate it. Then we took our original license, the copy from the Embassy and our Alien registration Cards and 4 photo’s to our local licensing office. Our local office wasn’t as local though, since we live in a really small ‘rural’ city, we had to travel an hour and a half to Yesan where we exchanged our original driver’s licenses for a Korean license. Luckily the Koreans do everything ‘bali-bali’, which means fast-fast…. While we were applying for our license cards we quickly wrote a theory test… got our results immediately, then we waited 10 minutes for our drivers licenses to be printed. We didn’t even have to do a practical test.

The motorcycle license is another story all together. For this we had to do a practical test. They scheduled our test for the next Wednesday at 3 o’clock, but since we work during the week we had to change our date and went for the test in Seoul ( they do tests on Saturdays). Unfortunately the test is much harder than first anticipated. We watched a lot of Youtube videos on the test, since its said to be quite hard. We even painted some lines in a vacant parking lot and practised for 2 weeks before doing the practical test and we still failed. I don’t have a lot of motorcycle experience so its no wonder that I failed but my husband has been driving a motorcycle for more than 20 years and he also failed the test. 🙁 They do however give you a big cruiser bike that you can’t even take for a test drive before the test.

Therefore we decided to go through a Driving Academy in Seoul. They show you how to do the test and then you practice on the test course for 10 hours with the bike you’ll be using for the test.. you also get to do 3 hours theory to prepare you for driving in Korea. We’ve finished most of our hours and will be doing our licenses in the next 2 weeks… Wish us luck!!

Trying something new

Hi everyone. I know I’ve been a little quite over the last few weeks. I’ve been trying to figure out a few new interests and I am now ready to share some of it with you.

A few months ago I saw the cutest Corpses Bride Ball Jointed Doll. At first I thought that you could buy them like that but later I realized that it was a repainted custom instead of a factory doll. In the following weeks I saw more and more of these dolls until I eventually thought of trying it myself.

At first I had absolutely now clue how to even begin. I did lots and lots of research and watched countless videos before eventually ordering my first doll and repainting supplies. I bought 3 dolls, DracularaLagoona blue and Dayna Treasura Jones. My plan was to create a repaint of Harley Quinn but after seeing some other first time custom face-ups I decided to go for something simple at first.

Here is what I did. First I needed to get the supplies needed to start the venture so this is what I got.

The hardest part for me was removing the factory paints.93c28c31f86e9e9a20e67108dc024c90.jpg

All the videos make it seem so easy but I guess its only because they’ve done it so many times. For me it took quite long, the acetone made me feel nauseous and a lot of the paint smudged over the dolls’ face so I had to try and remove it over and over again.

In the end her face was still kind of smudged but workable. I have to admit that when I removed my second doll’s factory makeup it went much better, I will share her with you as soon as I’ve finished her 🙂

After removing all her factory paint, I washed her face with warm soapy water and left her to dry. I then sprayed her with Mr Super Clear and left her to dry. It didn’t take too long for her to dry, about 5 minutes and I then started drawing her face.

She came out much better than I expected although her eyes weren’t dark enough.

I then decided that she probably needs a new dress, so I took her factory dress apart and pinned it to an old jean, cut out the pattern and hand sew it back together. I also used the Velcro that was on the original dress and stitched it onto the new dress. So here she is.

My father also loves collecting “dolls” although he has a collection of action figures not really dolls, have a look at his collection….

Workout of the week no 3

This weeks workout of the week is a Back and Biceps Workout. This one is fun because it incorporates some super-sets and also negatives into the mix.

One way to make workouts a little harder is to introduce negatives. Negatives is a great way to overload the muscle by slowing down the lowering phase of the lift. An easy way to do this is to count till 2 when you lift and count to 4 when you lower. As you become stronger you can extend the lowering phase with a few more counts.

Are you ready for this? Here we go!

DIY Mandarin Sugar Scrub

Since its getting colder and colder I’ve been eating a lot of citrus type fruits recently and I just love the smell of oranges and mandarins so I thought that a mandarin sugar scrub would be a great way to prepare my skin for the dry weather that’s on the way. Its also a great handmade gift for a special friend. You can read how to make your own essential oils from my previous post.

Workout of the Week #2

Since I’ve been in my 20’s I’ve been too scared to use a jump rope as I felt heavy and unable to jump, but a few years ago I saw this lovely little exercise routine and decided to give it a try. It was much easier than I expected even though I hit myself with the rope more than once or twice.

This is one of my favorite exercises of all time. Read More
