Pre-Halloween Dress-up Party

Hey Everyone!!!!

So… we all know how the typical Halloween party usually goes. We’re required to wear costumes to look scary but mostly we end up with “sexy mushrooms” instead of a scary-ass monster.

My girls have decided to try out their Halloween costumes in a Pre-Halloween dress up Party.

The Zodiacs

These ladies decided to dress up as their favourite zodiac sign…. their version of it in anyway

Capricorn

She decided to go for a subtle white and do up her hair to kind of look like little horns. She thought that the whites would best suit her Capricorn traits of being ambitious, conservative, determined, practical and helpful. Although she didn’t account for her skimpy outfit not looking very conservative.

Sagittarius

Being a warrior at heart and fond of the Zodiac she decided to wear an archery outfit that would best exemplify the Sagattarian traits of being adventurous, optimistic and enthusiastic

The Warrior

Shava is wearing her warrior outfit. She usually wears this one all the time because its armoured and can protect her in any fight. Its also a nice colour and works well for Halloween

The Mythical creature outfit

Lagoona is wearing her favourite outfit – her Water-nymph dress. She has opted to go barefoot since no water-nymph can wear shoes under water.

The Oh I forgot Harley Quinn is sooooo last year

Cinnamon decided that she’s going to go as Harley Quinn since she’s blonde and none of her friends are wearing the same outfit

Overall it looks like the girls had a lot of fun socialising with each other.

What costume are you wearing this year?

Seoul Comic Con 2017

Hey guys as you know the first ever Korea Comic Con was held in Seoul in August. Since I love movies and games my husband and I  along with my brother and our dear friend Jason set off on the weekend of 4 August to visit Comic Con.

Since it was the first one in Korea we didn’t really know what to expect. The turnout however was huge.

IMG_8081.JPGWe also saw a few cos-players lining up before the event

IMG_8079

It was only held in one hall in the Coex Expo centre but I believe that it was a great location as it was easy to go into the mall for coffee and food whenever we felt like it. We did however have lunch at the Marvelous Grill & Steak house inspired by the Avengers Movie

On the first day there were quite a lot of cos-players including me with Wolverine here 😀

On day 2 there were even more….

Out of the 3 day of comic con we only went for 2 days. It was a long and exhausting weekend but well worth the money and the time. Now I regret not going on the last day because I saw some pretty amazing costumes  on instagram and I wish I saw them in person. Furthermore seeing as it was the first Comic Con it did pretty well although I hope that it will be much bigger next year.

Finally here are some pictures of us at Comic Con Seoul 2017 😛

How to make a doll wig- First attempt

As you know my new hobby involves customising dolls. I have done a few face-ups but I want to expand into doing more than just the faces. Therefore I decided to try my hand at hair. There are 2 ways to change the hair on a doll. The first is to re-root the doll the other is to make a wig. Since I was too scared that I might ruin my doll by re-rooting her hair I decided to make a wig first. I used my Cloe Minifee doll for this as I don’t need to remove her hair since she had none to begin with.

Please note this post contains some doll nudity

I had an old purple wig from last years’ Halloween so I decided to use the hair from that.

It was already wavy and I didn’t need to style it in any way. I started off by cutting pieces of hair to the length of about 15 cm from the wig.

1. I used a piece of plastic and lay it flat on the table. I then used glue and a paintbrush and smeared a line of glue on the plastic. I then proceeded by placing strands of hair on the glue and giving it another coating of glue on top.

2. When it was dry I covered my doll with clean plastic and placed a wig cap on her head. I covered the whole doll so that I wouldn’t get any glue on her.

3. I then cut the rough edges off the dried hair pieces.

4. Next I then started at the bottom of the wig cap, applying some glue to the cap and placing the pieces of hair  to the glued areas working my way up until half of the wig cap was covered with hair.

5.Then I drew a Line in the middle of the wig cap and proceeded by making the middle part ( watch this video for detailed instruction on how to make a middle part)

6. After the middle parting has dried I proceeded filling in the rest of the head with hair.

This process took me a few days because I didn’t realise how much hair would be needed for this specific doll and I could only work on her after work. This means that as soon as I ran out of hair I had to start at step 1 again and wait for the hair to dry before continuing.

Girl on a train- Review

Girl on a train is a psychological thriller adapted from a novel by the same name written by Paula Hawkins. On my way back from South Africa my husband watched this on the plane and told me to watch it too. He’s usually not into drama type movies but he said that it was good and that I would like it, so that’s what I did then.

I have to admit that I really liked the movie and the story telling manner of the movie. You are almost just as clueless about the events as the main protagonist.

This review might contain some spoilers

The story is about a woman (Rachel) who rides the train to and from work everyday. She sits in the same cart everyday. She started to notice a woman( Megan) on her porch who looked very happy.The-Girl-On-The-Train-First-Look-haley-bennett.jpg Megan was married and looked content in her little life. Rachel on the other hand is an alcoholic who is trying to recover from her own failed marriage. Her husband Tom, left her for another woman called Anna. One day Rachel sees Megan on her porch with another man, not her husband, and this infuriates Rachel. She feels that the Megan is throwing away her perfect life and some of her own emotions from her own failed life  comes to the fore. Rachel in a drunken rage decides to go to Megan and bash her head in because of her stupidity to throw away her life. On her way home Rachel sees Megan in the street and runs after her screaming that she is a whore and Rachel blacks out. She does however wake up in her own home covered in blood leading us to believe that she killed Megan. Especially after Megan is reported as missing on the news. Since it is a first person narrative, we don’t know if she’s guilty or not until the very end.

During some scenes of the movie you really think she is guilty, since she can’t remember what happened during her blackout she herself is unsure whether or not she killed Megan. She even goes as far to befriend Megan’s husband claiming to be one of Megan’s best friends.

A story of deceit, lies and uncertainty, The Girl On The Train is a must see if you like psychological thriller.

If you’ve seen this movie or read the book, leave me a comment and tell me what you thought of it 😀

Split review

This past weekend we went to see Split. I have been waiting for this movie for a while now. I’m a huge fan of James McAvoy and especially like his movies with a psychological undertone. I’ve seen Filth, which was a bit depressing, and absolutely loved Trance.

This review contains spoilers.

The movie is about a man named Kevin Wendell Crumb. As a child he had an abusive mother and this caused the young boy to develop 23 distinct personalities. In the movie we are only introduced to 8 of the 23 personalities. McAvoy does an amazing job in portraying all of these personalities. In the movie there is a scene where, faced with the death of Kevin, all the personalities takes a turn in the “light” within a matter of minutes, each with their own manner of speaking, voice, gestures, reported age and physical features, for example Dennis, a big bulky guy is strong and can carry a girl around like she’s nothing while Hedwig, a 10 year old boy personality can’t even push a door open while the girls push it closed. Here McAvay was just brilliant. Its movies like this that shows just how versatile an actor can be.

I’ve always thought that its amazing that a person could split their personalities, I know that its  because of trauma that this disassociation happens but its still amazing to think that our minds can help protect us by developing different and sometimes stronger personalities.

In Split, Kevin has more docile personalities and then he has what the other personalities call “The Horde” which consists of the more dangerous/volatile personalities that Kevin possesses. These are the personalities that are more bad-ass, so to speak. For example, Dennis is a perfectionist, that came to the fore when Kevin was just 8  years old. Kevin’s mother was abusive but if everything stayed clean then she would punish Kevin less, therefore the perfectionist Dennis was a real saviour in this situation.

Overall the movie focused on how one personality may have a physical illness etc while the others had not, it also refers to a study found in 2015 of a blind women who lost her sight after a traumatic event in her 20’s that suddenly regained her eyesight in 8 out of her 10 personalities. According to the study the women’s brain scans showed that her sight spontaneously recovered. Source www.medicaldaily.com  The movie therefore focused on the assumption that if a personality believes something to be true it could happen. For example Jade, one of Kevin’s personalities, had diabetes while the others did not, even though they all live within one person.

The 24th personality the trailer talks about is called THE BEAST by the others, according to Dennis’s description of THE BEAST, he is much bigger than all the other personalities, he has long fingers that enables him to climb walls like a spider and his skin is impenetrable, he also feeds on young girls…EEEEK. When the Beast finally makes his appearance all these unbelievable characteristics are in fact true.

I really loved the movie although I thought that it dragged on a bit long before reaching the climax.

What did you think of this film?
