Workout of the Week #2

Since I’ve been in my 20’s I’ve been too scared to use a jump rope as I felt heavy and unable to jump, but a few years ago I saw this lovely little exercise routine and decided to give it a try. It was much easier than I expected even though I hit myself with the rope more than once or twice.

This is one of my favorite exercises of all time. Read More

Monster high face-up Sagittarius

A few weeks ago I was watching a Live Instagram post from “Dollightful” ( she’s an amazing artist check out her channel here’). She was busy talking about her progress on her Pokemon doll Umbreon and was asking for some ideas from her viewers for her channel. One person commented that they would like to see zodiac inspired dolls and although “Dollightful” didn’t comment on that I thought that it was an amazing idea.

Doing up your dolls like the signs in the zodiac seems like it could be a lot of fun. I tried to look online for some inspiration and whether or not other artist have done this, but I mostly found that people only make their own sign and that’s where it stops. Being narcissistic I also decided to do my own sign first since that is the sign I know the most about.

She’s an archer born under Jupiter. She is a strong fighter with a big heart who wants to see only the good in others. But don’t cross her in the wrong way or her arrow will shoot straight through you, with deadly accuracy. She is always up for an adventure and although she sometimes seems aloof she has the capacity to care deeply. She believes that showing your emotions is a sign of weakness therefore you won’t easily see her broken, but when you do, consider yourself lucky as this means she trusts you.

IMG_8364IMG_8359IMG_8357IMG_8367.jpgI have also decided to model some of my future dolls on my friends and their signs 😀 with their input of course… My next zodiac dolls will include Leo, Scorpio and Capricorn. Unfortunately because of all the humidity here in Korea at the moment I have to wait until the end of August before I can do another face-up, but stay tuned 😀

Workout of the Week

From now on I will post my favorite workout that I did the week before. I usually change up my exercise routine every 2 to 3 weeks because I tend to get bored easily and then don’t put in the maximum effort.

This weeks workout is a HIIT workout that I did on Saturday.

Fudgy Chocolate Brownies

This past week has been a real chocolate covered week for me… and not just figuratively. At one stage I was covered in cocoa powder and my socks drenched in chocolate. Now this might seem strange but I accidentally spilled some of my chocolate cookie dough on the floor, and in an attempt to clean it up, got it all over my socks 😦

I was planning on making Mini lava cakes over the weekend and since I had all the ingredients already I decided to try out some of Sally’s Fudgy Chocolate Brownies. They’re quite easy to make and super delicious. They are crunchy on the outside and soft, fudgy and chocolatey on the inside. Similar to these cookies here. It creates a real chocolate explosion in your mouth. I only have small baking pans so I made 2 pans and managed to get 18 brownies from the recipe.

I’ve heard people say that if you are a true baker you don’t need a recipe but I find that if I don’t follow the recipe it doesn’t come out the way it is supposed to. For me, leaving out 10 grams can mean the difference between perfection and disaster.

INGREDIENTS

  • 3/4 cup (12 Tbsp; 175g) unsalted butter
  • one 4 ounce (113g) semi-sweet chocolate bar, coarsely chopped
  • 2 cups (400g) granulated sugar2
  • 3 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup (95g) unsweetened natural or dutch-process cocoa powder3
  • 1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 and 1/4 cups (225g) semi-sweet chocolate chips

Preheat the oven to  350°F (177°C) and grease a 9×13 inch pan.

Heat the chopped chocolate and butter in the microwave in 30 second segments. Stir in between until it is soft and all the chocolate has melted. Mix in the sugar until combined then add the eggs and the vanilla extract.

In a separate bowl whisk together the cocoa powder, flour and salt. Then add the dry ingredients to the chocolate mixture. Add the remaining chocolate chips..

Transfer to the baking pan and spread the mixture evenly. Bake for 30 minutes. Check whether the brownies are done by inserting a toothpick into the brownies. If the batter is still wet, bake it for another 5-10 minutes. If only a few wet crumbs come out, then your brownies are done.

Remove the pan from the oven and set on a wire rack to cool. Once cooled, cut into squares.

Check out my post later this week to see how my Mini Lava Cakes turned out 🙂

I just love dressing up a dinner party. I absolutely love adding little trinkets to make my guest feel like I went out of my way for them, whether it is little beaded strings on the wine glasses or just some fancy napkin rings. These little extra’s do not need to be hard to make either. Today I’m going to show you how easy it is to make these little clay napkin rings. Here’s how on simistrinketsandtreats.com
