A year and a half ago my husband and I moved to Korea. I wanted to write about my life and experiences in Korea along with my current interests. Initially we came to Korea to use it as a stepping stone to immigrate to another country. But now since we’re here we are thinking of making it our new home even if it is just for the next few year as no one knows what the future holds. If you told me ten years ago I will be living in Korea now I would have called you out for bullshitting me. My brother always quotes Robbie Williams by saying “I sit and talk to God and he just laughs at my plans”. This is absolutely true. We have made so many plans with our lives but in the end its not up to us, no matter how much you try to take it into your own hands. So… here we are in Korea, living it up

50 Shades food ideas for Valentines Day

If you’ve decided to go for the 50 shades theme for Valentines day instead of the Vampire or Witch themes for Valentines day then this is for you.

Since you’re more likely to spend your day under the covers you wouldn’t need a big feast to keep you busy, therefore I have chosen a simple blueberry muffin for breakfast. According to E.L James, Christian Grey wanted Anastasia Steele to eat healthy food so for the dinner I have also chosen a homemade chicken salad and no-bake Cheesecake with fresh ingredients for dessert.

Blue Berry Muffins.

My mother in law recently made these muffins and they were wonderfully soft. She absolutely loves eating them with cream and jam and I thought that that would be a great breakfast option. Who doesn’t like blueberry muffins?

These blueberry muffins are box muffins, so you can just use the instructions on the box, add some fresh blueberries if you like and garnish with whipped cream and strawberry or blueberry jam.

Chicken salad

INGREDIENTS

Fresh Chicken Salad ( serves 2)
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 chicken Breasts
1 large tomato
4 leaves of lettuce
1/2 sweet red or yellow pepper
Cheddar cheese cubes (optional)
Croutons (optional)
Salt and pepper to taste
Honey and mustard dressing

First fry the chicken breast in the olive oil.Then chop all the vegetables and tear the lettuce into pieces by using your hands. You can add cheddar cheese cubes an croutons if you like. Mix in the honey and mustard sauce and salt and pepper and its ready to serve.

No-bake Cheesecake

This no-bake cheesecake is one of my favourite recipe’s it is so easy to make and it doesn’t take long at all. It is a light desert with a lovely cheese flavour.

Girl on a train- Review

Girl on a train is a psychological thriller adapted from a novel by the same name written by Paula Hawkins. On my way back from South Africa my husband watched this on the plane and told me to watch it too. He’s usually not into drama type movies but he said that it was good and that I would like it, so that’s what I did then.

I have to admit that I really liked the movie and the story telling manner of the movie. You are almost just as clueless about the events as the main protagonist.

The story is about a woman (Rachel) who rides the train to and from work everyday. She sits in the same cart everyday. She started to notice a woman( Megan) on her porch who looked very happy. Megan was married and looked content in her little life. Rachel on the other hand is an alcoholic who is trying to recover from her own failed marriage. Her husband Tom, left her for another woman called Anna. One day Rachel sees Megan on her porch with another man, not her husband, and this infuriates Rachel. She feels that the Megan is throwing away her perfect life and some of her own emotions from her own failed life comes to the fore. Rachel in a drunken rage decides to go to Megan and bash her head in because of her stupidity to throw away her life. On her way home Rachel sees Megan in the street and runs after her screaming that she is a whore and Rachel blacks out. She does however wake up in her own home covered in blood leading us to believe that she killed Megan. Especially after Megan is reported as missing on the news. Since it is a first person narrative, we don’t know if she’s guilty or not until the very end.

During some scenes of the movie you really think she is guilty, since she can’t remember what happened during her blackout she herself is unsure whether or not she killed Megan. She even goes as far to befriend Megan’s husband claiming to be one of Megan’s best friends.

A story of deceit, lies and uncertainty, The Girl On The Train is a must see if you like psychological thriller.

Healthy Breakfast Muffins

Hi Everyone. Since I went to South Africa for a holiday I’ve been eating non-stop. I gained about 8 pounds and now that I’m back home in Korea I have to get back to eating normally and making some changes in my sugar intake so you can expect a few more healthier meals from me in the next few weeks 😀

Bran muffins are an excellent meal for breakfast, lunch or even just for a snack, they are wholesomely delicious and juicy. I use a basic packet of Bran Muffin mix and make it as specified and then comes the special ingredients…. add a cup of raisins and 1 grated apple. This gives the muffins a fruity taste and moist consistency. You could even go further by adding a grated carrot to give it more of a carrot cake feel.

INGREDIENTS

1 BOX/Packet bran muffin mix- around 250 grams (usually you should add eggs or oil and water or milk, just check the specifications for the muffin mix)
1 cup raisins
1 grated apple
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon ( Optional)
1 grated carrot (optional)

Mix the muffin mix as indicated on the packet. Add the raisins, grated apple, carrot and cinnamon. Scoop mixture into lightly greased muffin pans and bake for 25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
