Pregnancy Dinner Ideas

I’ve recently been gifted the HelloFresh food boxes and really enjoyed the variety it provided. It however takes me longer to make one of these meals, and estimated 40-50 minutes, compared to when I cook my own meals, only 30 minutes. I’ve decided not to continue using the food boxes but to rather make my own little weekly menu of things that I like and that I can make.

SInce I am pregnant I do crave a lot of things, sometimes unhealthy foods like the donuts or chocolate I have once or more a week. These meals are just things that I either know how to make or that I’ve discovered online….today 🙂

Let me know what you think of my selection

Broccoli and Blue Cheese Frittata

Obviously I’ll change the blue cheese for Edam cheese, since that’s what I have at home

Roasted Veggie Pasta Salad

I first tried this at the first house I stayed at in New Zealand. The lady I lived with use to make it all the time and I loved it. I also didn’t know what Chorizo was, I just know its something that Coco’s dad choked on in the movie COCO 😛

South African Style Braai

We’re planning to have a South African style Braai on the weekend with either potato salad or garlic bread but if it rains then we’ll just have sausage rolls

What are your dinner plans for this week?

15 minute DIY project

Before my family is visiting us later this month I’m trying to beautify our apartment a little. So I bought some silk flowers but when I got home I noticed that I didn’t have any containers to keep it in. Luckily I had a box lying around and a 1m brown wood wallpaper strip

I covered the box with the wallpaper and trimmed the edges, I then arranged the flowers and viola.

Come dine with me, the family edition

A few years ago, our family decided to host our own come dine with me. Come dine with me was in South Africa and we decided that although we can’t be on TV we’ll do our own little Come Dine With Me. We wanted to do it with people we love and trusted and who will give honest opinions without screwing you over… We each gave $20 as prize money. The idea was that at the end of the day your event should not cost more than $80. Therefore if you win the BIG prize, your event would not have cost you anything. But of course we all wanted to win so we had to make our tables look stunning. We borrowed, bought and exchanged plates, glasses an even flower pots.

We decided to do it on a Saturday afternoon so that everyone could participate. Two days before the event we had to share our menu. We did it over 4 weeks, each week for each couple.

and this was the result

Week 1

Week 2

Week 3

Week 4

It was interesting to see how each one’s decor represented their personalities and the way the approach life, the colours were definitely a reflection of each ones style.

There are also some reasons why you should not do this kind of thing with your family, but I’ll leave that for a later post.
